Hotel Review - Villa Fontaine Shiodome

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in 2011 and the location is spot on, right in the business district of Shiodome. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the Yurikamome line and Oedo line and less than a 10 minute walk above or below ground to Shimbashi station where there is access to the Yamanote line amongst others. If you're really lazy, like we were on several occasions, then you can get the Yurikamome from the hotel (Shiodome station) to Shimbashi, a journey taking approximately 1 minute!

We stayed in a standard double room on the 5th floor. The room was average by Tokyo standards but, most importantly, the bed was comfortable. Internet was wired but free and there was a reasonable sized mini fridge in the room, (certainly one of our key requirements for a hotel). Cleanliness wise the room and hotel were spotless. There are laundry rooms on the even numbered floors and our only qualm about these, and the room itself, was the lack of an iron. We’ve read reviews from others saying that the railway lines are very noisy but our room faced these and we didn’t hear a train once!

Breakfast is complimentary and was basic but good. It was self service and each day there was always bread, soup, miso, rice, eggs, sausages, cereal and salad. All accompanied by hot and cold drinks.

All in all we agreed that if you can live without an iron then this hotel is a winner. Since this stay the price of the hotel has increased somewhat and we have found other hotels offering better value for money but if you want to stay in Shiodome Villa Fontaine is well worth a look.
